Women’s Economic Empowerment Project Partnership

The 2013 Final Impact Report submission link is available. Please see the Final Impact Report page for details.

Enactus and Walmart have joined together to empower women by providing entrepreneurial and workforce skills via Enactus teams. This partnership is a unique opportunity to galvanize Enactus teams to enable women to contribute to their family’s financial success.

When women are unemployed, their rates of ill health and mental health issues are higher. If they have a family, the entire family is affected, by not only the reduced income, but these additional complications.

“Women are still much more likely than men to be poor and illiterate. They usually have less access than men to medical care, property ownership, credit, training and employment. They are far less likely than men to be politically active and far more likely to be victims of domestic violence… When women are empowered, whole families benefit, and these benefits often have ripple effects to future generations.” United Nations Population Fund

The Walmart Women’s Economic Empowerment Project Partnership will educate and empower women with the skills and confidence necessary to get a job, maintain a healthy lifestyle and obtain a voice.
